Are you a new player or considering playing with SYSA?
Here are some frequently asked questions about playing in our coed recreational soccer program...

**PLEASE NOTE: THERE ARE SPECIAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AND LIMITATIONS THIS SEASON DUE TO COVID-19     THESE ARE HIGHLIGHTED IN RED - PLEASE READ THEM CAREFULLY

Q: WHAT ARE THE DATES OF THE SEASON AND GAME TIMES?
Sept 20-Nov 1, No games Columbus Day weekend
There are 2 sessions
 Session 1: 12:30-1:30, Juniors & Seniors (Grades 3-8)
 Session 2:  2:00-3:00 Mini-Mites (Grades 1 & 2)


Q: WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?

Shinguards are mandatory for ALL divisions, age 6-14

Socks that cover the shinguards OR there are some styles of shinguard that are designed with a cloth covering over the plastic so socks are not needed. 

Comfortable shorts, sweats or nylon pants (depending on the weather)

CLEATS - NOT REQUIRED but recommended for better traction when playing soccer (Mini-Mite, Juinor & Senior Divisions)

**PLEASE NOTE: Cleats must be SOCCER CLEATS, NOT baseball cleats that have a spike at the toe - These are dangerous for soccer and NOT ALLOWED

Uniform Shirt: SYSA provides team uniform shirts for all players. These are on loan for the season-you take it home every week and launder it, then return it at the end of the season. This helps to to keep registration costs affordable.

Water: For keeping hydrated and ready to play on game day. Sports drinks, juice or soda are not recommended due to high sugar content.**NO SHARING OF WATER BOTTLES OR SOCCER BALLS DUE TO COVID-19

*MASK/FACE COVERING: MUST BE WORN WHEN ENTERING AND EXITING THE FIELD AND WHEN ON THE SIDELINES. MASK WILL BE REMOVED DURING WARM-UPS AND PLAYING THE GAME

Q: WHAT SAFETY PRECAUT IONS  WILL BE IN PLACE TO MITIGATE COVID-19 ?

PLAYERS AND SPECTATORS WHO HAVE A FEVER OR SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19 ARE ASKED TO STAY AT HOME

ALL PLAYERS WILL HAVE THEIR TEMPERATURE CHECKED AND WILL BE ASKED SCREENING QUESTIONS UPON ENTERING THE FIELD.

ANY PLAYER WITH A FEVER OR WHO ANSWERS "YES" ON ANY QUESTION WILL BE ASKED TO GO HOME

*SPECTATORS - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
1. WILL BE LIMITED TO ONE ADULT PER PLAYER TO LIMIT THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE ON THE FIELDS TO REDUCE RISK OF SPREADING COVID-19.

. WILL NEED TO WEAR A MASK/FACE COVERING WHEN ENTERING & EXITING THE FIELD FROM YOUR VEHICLE

3. NEED TO MAINTAIN A DISTANCE OF 6' ON THE SIDELINES OR WEAR A MASK/FACE COVERING

4. WILL BE SCREENED FOR FEVER AND ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT SYMPTOMS, CONTACT WITH PEOPLE WITH COVID-19 AND TRAVEL

5. WILL BE ASKED TO GO HOME IF ANY QUESTIONS ARE ANSWERED "YES"

Q: WHEN WILL MY TEAM PRACTICE?

**THERE WILL  NOT BE ANY PRACTICE SESSIONS THIS SEASON, DUE TO COVID-19

 
Q-  DO THE GAMES HAVE REFEREES?

Yes, SYSA has a team of referees, most of whom are "patched" (they have completed a licensing course with the NH Soccer Association). The refs are local middle & high school students, most of whom have played for SYSA in the past and/or play for their school or travel soccer teams.

Q-  I  WOULD LIKE TO COACH A TEAM. WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?

During the registration process for your child, there is a separate place for you to volunteer. If you are the primary coach of your child(ren's) team, the fee for one child will be waived. All coaches must complete a background check through the NH Soccer Association (info given after you sign up). Coaches are given support in the form of online resources as well as training booklets and DVDs that you may borrow. We also have a coordinator of coaching who can come out to your practice session and give you support.
**ALL COACHES WILL NEED TO WEAR A MASK/FACE COVERING UPON ENTERING AND EXITING THE FIELD AND WILL HAVE THEIR TEMPERATURE CHECKED AND BE ASKED SCREENING QUESTIONS FOR COVID-19.

Q- HOW CAN I VOLUNTEER TO HELP OUT MY CHILD'S TEAM

** WE ARE SEEKING ONE ADULT PER TEAM TO ACT AS A "SAFETY MON
ITOR" TO HELP WITH COVID-19 SCREENING. PLEASE CHECK "YES" ON YOUR REGISTRATION IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HELP AND WE WILL CONTACT YOU TO EXPLAIN WHAT YOU WILL DO AT EACH GAME.
